Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], August 18 : BRS Working President and former minister K T Rama Rao on Sunday accused the Congress government in Telangana of driving away significant industrial investments due to what he called its "administrative incompetence and corrupt governance", a PRO statement said.
In a scathing attack on the Congress party, KTR expressed anguish over the relocation of Kaynes Technology's Rs 2,800 crore semiconductor investment project from Telangana to Gujarat.
"The project, originally expected to generate 2,000 direct jobs for local youth, has now been shifted due to the Congress government's failure to retain investor confidence," he alleged.
"The Revanth Reddy-led government has not even responded to the exit of a project we worked hard to bring here during the BRS rule. This is nothing short of betrayal to the youth of Telangana," KTR said in a release.
KTR called the exit of Kaynes Technology a "wake-up call" and warned that many more companies could leave if the government doesn't shift its focus back to industrial development. "Revanth Reddy must open his eyes and realise that Telangana's future is at stake. If he continues down this path, the exodus of industries will only accelerate," KTR cautioned.
The former minister recalled that during the BRS regime, the state had managed to convince Kaynes to shift its unit from Karnataka to Telangana. "Within 10 days of their request, we allotted land next to Foxconn in Kongarakalan. That's the kind of governance we offered," he said.
The BRS leader alleged that the company's move to Gujarat was solely due to the Congress government's lack of clarity, transparency, and industrial focus. "Corruption and inefficiency are the trademarks of the current administration," he added.
KTR slammed Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's earlier remarks that Telangana was running in "auto-pilot mode" during BRS rule. "If that was auto-pilot, then today Telangana is running in auto-destruct mode under Congress," he remarked. He said that the painstakingly built Brand Hyderabad and Brand Telangana, developed over a decade under BRS rule, were being systematically dismantled by the present government.
"All they care about is commissions, not commitments. There is zero interest in either retaining or attracting industries," KTR alleged.
Alleging large-scale political exploitation, KTR said that the current government has shifted focus entirely away from development and employment. "For Revanth Reddy, Telangana is nothing but an ATM for the Congress high command in Delhi. All he wants is to secure his CM chair, even if it means mortgaging the future of this state," he said.
KTR said that Telangana was transformed into an investor-friendly destination over the past decade due to BRS's consistent efforts and policies like TS-iPASS. "That entire decade of progress has now gone up in smoke within a few months of Congress's rule."
