Assam: Earthquake of magnitude 5.8 jolts Udalguri; CM Sarma says, "Actively monitoring situation"

Udalguri (Assam) [India], September 14 : An earthquake of magnitude 5.8 jolted the Udalguri district in Assam, at 16:41 IST on Sunday, according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS).
The quake occurred at a depth of 5 km, with its epicentre located at latitude 26.78N and longitude 92.33E, 48 km WNW of Tezpur.
In X post, the NCS stated, "EQ of M: 2.7, On: 14/09/2025 18:11:50 IST, Lat: 26.78 N, Long: 92.26 E, Depth: 5 Km, Location: Udalguri, Assam."

Assam CM said that the authorities are monitoring the situation and there has been no loss of life so far.
In a post on X, Assam CM Sarma shared, "So far, there has been no report of any major damage or loss of life. We are actively monitoring the situation."
According to the NCS, two more earthquakes of magnitude 3.1 and 2.7 struck the Udalguri district today.
"EQ of M: 3.1, On: 14/09/2025 16:58:31 IST, Lat: 26.80 N, Long: 92.33 E, Depth: 5 Km, Location: Udalguri, Assam," the NCS said on X.
"EQ of M: 2.7, On: 14/09/2025 18:11:50 IST, Lat: 26.78 N, Long: 92.26 E, Depth: 5 Km, Location: Udalguri, Assam," it said.
The National Centre for Seismology also reported an earthquake of magnitude 2.9 in the Sonitpur district of Assam.
"EQ of M: 2.9, On: 14/09/2025 17:21:26 IST, Lat: 26.81 N, Long: 92.33 E, Depth: 5 Km, Location: Sonitpur, Assam," the NCS said.
With this, Assam has recorded four earthquakes in a single day so far, as per the NCS.
