Siliguri (West Bengal) [India], January 31 : Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said that after the Bengal Assembly polls, a BJP chief minister is set to take charge of the state, and all the land required for fencing will be provided to the Border Security Force (BSF) within 45 days.
Home Minister asserted that infiltration would be completely stopped and infiltrators identified and deported.
Addressing a public gathering in Bagdogra, Shah said infiltration in West Bengal was no longer just a state issue but had become a matter of national security, alleging that the present state government was allowing it to continue.
"Mamata Didi is not going to give the land even after the High Court's order. But don't worry, her time is up. By the end of April, the Bharatiya Janata Party's Chief Minister will hand over all land to the BSF within 45 days. I am saying this today, not only will the infiltration stop, but every single infiltrator will be identified and sent back from Bengal. And that is why Mamata Banerjee is afraid of the SIR, because she knows that if the SIR is implemented, the infiltrators will be removed," he said while addressing worker's conference.
Home Minister said that infiltration in West Bengal is not just a state issue but a matter of national security, alleging that the Mamata Banerjee-led government is allowing it to continue.
"It is necessary to remove this government that is allowing the infiltration. The government changed in Assam, and the infiltration stopped. There is a BJP government in Gujarat, and there is no infiltration. There is a BJP government in Rajasthan, and there is no infiltration."
Union Home Minister Amit Shah alleged that West Bengal government officials were not cooperating with the Election Commission during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, and said the BJP is fully supporting the exercise to ensure a "purified" voter list.
"In the SIR (Special Intensive Revision), Mamata Banerjee's officers are not cooperating with the Election Commission. But the Bharatiya Janata Party is supporting the SIR, and we will ensure that the voter list is purified here. We will give our full cooperation to the Election Commission," he said.
He also criticised the Mamata Banerjee-led government over the condition of tea garden workers, claiming they had not received real benefits, and asserted that, like Assam, the BJP would grant tea garden workers in Bengal ownership rights over their land if voted to power.
