Patna (Bihar) [India], July 5 : Terming the businessman murder incident ''tragic'', Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan on Saturday expressed hope that strict action will be taken under the law.
Speaking to reporters, the Bihar Governor said, "I am at a loss for words...I hope that strict action will be taken under the law as soon as possible. So that no one dares to commit such crimes in the future. The incident is very tragic."
Earlier today, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said that the state government is probing every angle in the murder incident of businessman Gopal Khemka.
Speaking to reporters, Choudhary said, "Police are investigating the matter. The Bihar Government has formed an SIT. Action will be taken at the earliest, and every angle is being probed by the Government. No criminal will be spared."Earlier today, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha said that "irresponsible" officials who failed to take "swift" action will be held accountable following the murder of the businessman Gopal Khemka in Patna.
Meanwhile, Deputy CM Vijay Sinha also took a dig at Rashtriya Janata Dal and said that the State government is keeping an eye on those officials who have been "nurtured" under the "Jungle Raj".
"We have our eyes on the officials who were nurtured during that 'jungle raj'. Those irresponsible officials who haven't taken strict and swift action will be held accountable," the Deputy CM told reporters.
He also assured that compensation would be provided to the victim's family and that strict law enforcement action would be taken.
"The bulldozer action will be taken, an encounter will happen, property will be seized, and we will discuss with the CM about the compensation to be provided to the victim's family," he said.
Coming hard on the ruling as well as past governments over the murder of businessman Gopal Khemka in Patna, Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor, on Saturday, said that there is no difference between the law and order during Lalu Yadav's tenure and present Nitish Kumar's.
Speaking to reporters, Prashant Kishor claimed that officials are running Nitish Kumar's government, doing as they please.
"There is no difference between Lalu Yadav's jungle raj and Nitish Kumar's rule. During Lalu Yadav's rule, there was a rampage by criminals, and in Nitish Kumar's rule, there is a rampage by officials. The kind of corruption and law-and-order situation that existed before is still the same now. In Patna, such a prominent businessman is shot dead, and no action is taken... Just yesterday in Siwan, three people were shot. This is a daily occurrence. It's the rule of officials, running things as they please," he said.
Bihar Police has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the murder case of businessman Gopal Khemka, who was allegedly shot dead in the south area of the Gandhi Maidan in Patna on Friday.
