New Delhi [India], August 22 : Addressing her first public event after the attack, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, on Friday, said she will not be afraid and will not get tired till the people of Delhi get their rights.
Addressing an event organised by the Association of Wholesale Readymade Garments Dealers in Gandhi Nagar Market, Shahadra, Rekha Gupta said, "I assure you that your Chief Minister Didi will not be afraid, will not get tired, will not lose. Till Delhi gets its rights, she will keep fighting with you. It is my vow to continuously fight with you."
This comes after Rajkot resident Rajesh Khimji attacked CM Rekha Gupta during a Jan Sunvai program on Wednesday in the national capital. He was detained by the police immediately and has been sent to a five-day police custody.
Addressing the event in Gandhi Nagar Market, the Chief Minister said that the government will place 'Yamunapar' at the forefront of Delhi's development.
She said, "We will once again place 'Yamunapar' at the forefront of Delhi's development. I congratulate the brothers and sisters of Yamunapar for the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway built by Prime Minister Modi, as it will make our lives and daily routines much more convenient."
She assured the public that the River Yamuna would be cleaned and said that it would appear better with time.
"A very large number of people live on this side of the Yamuna in Delhi and are waiting for Mother Yamuna to be cleaned... Mother Yamuna will start appearing better and more beautiful with time," the Chief Minister said.
Further, she gave assurance for water and sewer lines, parking lots and public toilets in the 'Yamunapar' region of the national capital.
CM Rekha Gupta said, "There will be water lines and sewer lines all across the Yamunapar. Wherever there is no water pipeline, water pipelines will be laid there. Wherever there is a problem of parking, multiple parking lots will be built. Wherever there is no toilet, toilets will be built there."
Earlier today, Rekha Gupta left her residence for first time since she was attacked on August 20.
