Indore (Madhya Pradesh) [India], July 23 : Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Thursday inaugurated one arm of the state's first double-layer flyover bridge at Lavkush Square in Indore, describing the Rs 175-crore project as an example of modern technology and advanced engineering.
The Chief Minister said Indore and development are synonymous, adding that the state and the country are witnessing all-round progress under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
CM Yadav also highlighted the significance of the project, saying the flyover would play a crucial role in ensuring smooth traffic movement on the Indore-Ujjain route, particularly in view of the Simhastha-2028 congregation. He said the project would reduce travel time, save fuel, ease traffic congestion, and provide safer and more convenient commuting for citizens.
He added that the flyover reflects the state's commitment to building a developed Indore and a developed Madhya Pradesh. He added that the structure would become a symbol of the city's modern urban development in the coming years.
CM Yadav further stressed that the flyover features a unique three-tier traffic system. The first level accommodates regular traffic at Lavkush Square, the second level consists of the existing flyover along with the Metro rail corridor, while the third level is the newly constructed double-layer flyover. He said the arrangement would significantly reduce congestion at the intersection and ensure uninterrupted traffic flow.
The Chief Minister also inspected the bridge and appreciated the engineering work executed on the project on the occasion.

Constructed by the Indore Development Authority, the approximately 1,450-metre-long flyover has been built using advanced engineering techniques. The project includes two steel bowstring girders, each weighing 400 tonnes, installed at a height of 22 metres over a 65-metre-long and 24-metre-wide span. A total of 800 tonnes of steel has been used in the structure, making it one of the state's significant engineering achievements, according to the official release.
With the opening of the first arm of the flyover, traffic from Aurobindo Hospital towards Bhanwarkuan and Banganga will be made operational. The second arm of the flyover is in the final stages of construction and is expected to be opened in the coming days.
