
Congress chief Kharge wishes IYC on its foundation day, calls for multiplying youth voice against "attack on Constitution"

New Delhi [India], August 9 : Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday extended wishes to the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) on its 65th foundation day, calling for multiplying the voices of the youth against the attack on "democratic institutions and the Constitution."
"My best wishes to the Indian Youth Congress on their Foundation Day. IYC has been at the forefront in defending the values that make India. Let us stridently raise and multiply the voice of every youth against the attack on Democratic institutions and our Constitution. I wish each one of you all the very best," Kharge posted on X.
Earlier today, Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi also wished the youth wing of the party on its foundation day, calling for "young minds to stand against injustice and inequality."
"Best wishes to all members of the Indian Youth Congress on IYC's Foundation Day. IYC has provided a powerful platform for young minds to stand against injustice and inequality and to uphold the democratic and constitutional values of our nation. May you continue to champion the dreams and aspirations of India's youth, and lead with courage, integrity, and vision," Gandhi posted on X.
Earlier today, the IYC reaffirmed its commitment to carry forward the values of democracy, secularism, and social justice.
"As we celebrate IYC Day, we honour over six decades of relentless dedication. a legacy rooted deeply in democracy, secularism, and social justice. On this day, we renew our pledge to carry forward these values with the same passion and commitment," the party's youth wing posted on X.
The Indian Youth Congress, the youth wing of the Indian National Congress, was founded on August 9, 1960. The party used to be part of the Congress party itself, afterwards, Prime Minister Indira Gandhi established it as a frontal organisation. Currently, the organisation has over two crore registered members.
The organisation has launched several initiatives, including the 'Shakti Super She' campaign, which aims to build and strengthen nationwide association and engagement of women with the Congress party. Other events include Bharat Jodo leadership program, Pehla vote, Indira fellowship, and raising voice for Youth rights.
Currently, Uday Bhanu Chib and Krishna Allavaru serve as the organisation's President and Joint Secretary, respectively.
