Oct 09, 2025
New Delhi [India], October 9 : Claiming that the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government failed to manage Delhi's garbage problem and the height of landfills went till 65 metres during their tenure, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday promised that the "garbage mountains" will be transformed into a beautiful garden by January 1, 2028.
"During the rule of 'AAP-da' government, the garbage mountains in Delhi reached 65 meters. On January 1, 2028, you will not be able to find the garbage mountain. Construction of a very beautiful garden will begin there..." Shah said while addressing the gathering on the inauguration of Delhi Sewage Treatment Plant.
Targeting the former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Shah accused the previous AAP government of committing various scams during their tenure, and said hence they lost the February 2025 assembly elections of Delhi.
He said, "We will come again to seek a mandate, Rekha Gupta ji will contest the elections again. There will be no scam in our name, nor any allegation of corruption. Kejriwal ji has committed so many scams in eleven years - the Mohalla Clinic scam, the liquor scam, the advertising scam, the medicine scam, the classroom scam, the Delhi Jal Board scam, the Sheesh Mahal scam, the CCTV installation scam, and the panic button scam. He did so many scams that the people of Delhi scammed him in elections and now he is sitting at his home."
Shah asserted that even when Congress was in power at the Centre, scams worth Rs 12 lakh crore were committed.
"Even when the Congress was in power in the country, scams, frauds and corruption worth Rs 12 lakh crores were committed. During Modi ji's eleven years of rule, not a single allegation was made against our Prime Minister," the Union Minister said.
Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth approximately Rs 1816 crore of the Delhi Government in New Delhi.
