Pudukkottai (Tamil Nadu) [India], January 4 : Union Home Minister Amit Shah accused the DMK government of turning Tamil Nadu into a "dumping ground" for biomedical waste. He also termed the current government "the most corrupt" and accused it of religious "atrocities" against Hindus.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of state BJP President Nainar Nagenthran's marathon yatra, the Home Minister said, "Tamil Nadu government has turned Tamil Nadu into a dumping ground. The dangerous biomedical waste from other states is being dumped into the sacred rivers of Tamil Nadu."
Shah issued sharp criticism of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, saying, "I want to tell Stalin ji that you have violated the sanctity of our constitution by committing atrocities against the Hindu community."
He alleged that an "undeclared curfew" was imposed during the Bhoomi Puja of the Ayodhya Ram Temple and that the DMK has placed undue restrictions on Hindu processions and the immersion of idols.
Referencing past comments by senior DMK leaders, Shah stated, "In Tamil Nadu, they have unleashed a series of insults against the Hindus and their faith. In Tamil Nadu, an undeclared curfew was imposed during the Bhoomi Puja of the Ayodhya Ram Temple. Their senior leader compared Sanatana Dharma to dengue and malaria."
In 2023, Tamil Nadu Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development Udhayanidhi Stalin had remarked, "Sanatana is like malaria and dengue, and so it must be eradicated and not opposed."
"I thank the organisers of this conference for giving me the opportunity to deliver a special address. You have kept the name of the conference as 'Sanatana Abolition Conference' rather than 'Anti-Sanatana Conference', I appreciate that," Udhayanidhi said.
He further said, "Few things cannot be opposed; those should be abolished only. We can't oppose Dengue, Mosquitoes, Malaria, or Corona, we have to eradicate them that's how we have to eradicate Sanatana. Rather than opposing Sanatana, it should be eradicated."
Shah also responded to what he called "propaganda" that the NDA is anti-Tamil. He emphasised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts to elevate the language on a national stage, saying, "Stalin's party has started this propaganda that the NDA is against the Tamil language. Today, I want to tell the people of Tamil Nadu that it is Prime Minister Narendra Modi who initiated the process of allowing candidates to take the IAS and IPS examinations in the Tamil language."
Expressing firm confidence that a shift in the state's political regime is underway in the upcoming 2026 Assembly elections in April, he asserted that the NDA would win against DMK and Congress.
Addressing a massive gathering at the closing ceremony of state BJP President Nainar Nagenthran's marathon yatra on Sunday, Shah declared, "In April 2026, an NDA government will be formed in Tamil Nadu."
Highlighting previous electoral wins in recent years, he said, "2024 and 2025 were years of victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party; now, 2026 will be the year we bring that mandate to Tamil Nadu and Bengal."
The Home Minister urged the citizens of Tamil Nadu to align themselves and join Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "vision of a developed India."
Shah's speech served as a formal confirmation of the BJP's alliance strategy to go against the currently ruling DMK. He announced that the BJP is prepared to lead a "strong alliance" with the AIADMK and other regional partners.
"The alliance of BJP with AIADMK and others will have its final fight against Congress and DMK," Shah said.
The Home Minister criticised the current administration, labelling the DMK government as "the most corrupt government" in the country. He accused the ruling party of failing, saying, "The DMK government has failed on every front. If the most corrupt government is anywhere in the whole of India, then unfortunately, it is in Tamil Nadu."
