Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], June 4 : Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma on Wednesday conducted an online dialogue on the anniversary of the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre in Beijing, China.
The subject of the dialogue was - "Tiananmen Square: The ugly face of Maoism - from Beijing to Bastar."
Speaking to reporters, Sharma stated that it is essential to dispel misconceptions of people about Maoism as Maoists have misled the people of Chhattisgarh on this subject.
"... Today is a day worth remembering, especially for the people of Chhattisgarh, because Maoists have misled people here. To dispel their misconception, people need to know what Maoism is. That is why I am conducting an online dialogue about it today..." the Deputy CM said.
The 1989 Tiananmen Square incident, also known as the Tiananmen Square protests and massacre, was a series of student-led demonstrations in China. These protests culminated on June 3-4, when the People's Liberation Army used force to suppress the demonstrations, resulting in significant casualties.
Meanwhile, the Deputy CM also reacted to two Bangladeshi nationals arrested in Durg and stated, "... Many criminals have been caught in this. I accept that there are more people than those who have been nabbed... I also appeal to the common people to make available any information they get. We are also developing a mechanism for them to share the information they possess."
Earlier on June 1, Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma highlighted the BJP government's "zero tolerance policy" over national security and said, "We don't feed 'biryani' to these people"
"The BJP government's work with zero tolerance when it comes to issues related to national security...We don't feed 'biryani' to these kinds of people in Bungalows in Delhi. Their place is fixed in jail...," Sharma told reporters.
This came after the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted a massive search operation at 15 locations in eight states across the country in a Pakistan-linked espionage case.
Searches were conducted at the premises of suspects linked with Pakistan Intelligence Operatives (PIOs) in the states of Delhi, Maharashtra (Mumbai), Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Assam and West Bengal.
NIA teams have seized several electronic gadgets and sensitive financial documents, along with other incriminating materials, during the searches. These are being extensively examined for clues to the espionage racket being run by Pakistan-based operatives as part of an anti-India terror conspiracy.
