Washington [US], April 2 : Former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham was reportedly attacked by a woman in Santa Monica, according to multiple reports, said The Hollywood Reporter.
As per the outlet, the incident took place last week when Buckingham arrived for an appointment in the area. The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that an investigation is underway.
In a statement shared with The Hollywood Reporter, the police said, "The Los Angeles Police Department, Threat Management Unit, is working with the Santa Monica Police Department to investigate the incident. To protect the integrity of the open and ongoing investigation, no further comment will be provided, at this time."
According to reports, a woman allegedly threw an "unknown substance" at Buckingham. Authorities have described the woman as a "stalking suspect" who is known to the musician from past incidents. No arrests have been made so far, and Buckingham was not injured in the incident.
Lindsey Buckingham is best known for his long association with the band Fleetwood Mac, which he joined in 1974 along with Stevie Nicks. The band went on to achieve massive success, including chart-topping songs like Dreams.
Apart from his work with the band, Buckingham has also had a successful solo career, releasing several albums over the years. He left Fleetwood Mac in 1987, returned in 1997, and remained with the group until 2018.
The investigation into the Santa Monica incident is ongoing.
