Fugitive in Ziaur Rahman assassination case arrested by Bangladesh detectives

Dhaka [Bangladesh], July 16 : The Detective Branch (DB) of Bangladesh police has arrested a suspect in connection with the assassination of Bangladesh's former president Ziaur Rahman.
In May 1981, Zia was assassinated by gunfire at the Circuit House in Chattogram.
Due to the connection with the assassination, Major Mojafor Hossain was accused at that time, and he has remained a fugitive since then. The Bangladesh government announced a reward for his capture.
After more than 45 years after the assassination, the detective branch announced that they have arrested Major Mojafor.
"Based on intelligence from our investigation, we have arrested a suspect connected to the Ziaur Rahman assassination, named Major Mojafor Hossain. We will provide further details to the press shortly", a DB official told ANI over the phone. He did not elaborate.
The former president Ziaur Rahman was the father of the current prime minister of Bangladesh, Tarique Rahman.
President Zia was the husband of Bangladesh's former Prime Minister, Khaleda Zia.
