Jan 23, 2026

Washington DC [US], January 23 : Actor Stellan Skarsgard is in disbelief after his Norwegian film 'Sentimental Value' received record-breaking nine nominations in the upcoming Academy Awards, including his nomination for the best actor.
In an interview with Variety, Stellan called it a "fantastic" feeling after his low-budget movie secured nominations in Oscars 2026.
"Nine nominations! No Scandinavian has ever been close to it. It's fantastic. This film needs all the publicity it can get. It's a small film and doesn't have enough money for billboards," said Stellan Skarsgard as quoted by Variety.
When asked about his reaction to being nominated for the best supporting actor for 'Sentimental Value', the actor said that this achievement would be added as a "fun trivia" in his "CV."
"It's fun trivia for my CV," said Stellan Skarsgard.
According to Variety, 'Sentimental Value' follows sisters Nora and Agnes as they "reunite with their estranged father, the charismatic Gustav, a once-renowned director who offers stage actress Nora a role in what he hopes will be his comeback film," according to the film's synopsis.
The film is directed by Joachim Trier and also stars Renate Reinsve and Ella Fanning in the lead roles.
Earlier, the star Stellan Skarsgard won big at the 2026 Golden Globes, picking up the best Supporting Male Actor for his performance in 'Sentimental Value'.
Stellan Skarsgard was nominated alongside the likes of Benicio Del Toro (One Battle After Another), Jacob Elordi (Frankenstein), Sean Penn (One Battle After Another), Paul Mescal (Hamnet), and Adam Sandler (Jay Kelly).
As for the Oscars, Michael B Jordan starrer Sinners leads the race for Oscar nominations with 16 nods, followed by One Battle After Another starring Leonardo DiCaprio.
