Dec 24, 2025
Agartala (Tripura) [India], December 24 : Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday said that the current government has given special importance to infrastructure development, with financial allocations made in the state budget.
He added that the government is working to create a New Tripura in the coming days.
The Chief Minister made these remarks while laying the foundation stone for the Khowai District Hospital and Drug De-Addiction Centre in the Dhalabil area of Khowai, and while inaugurating various government projects.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Dr. Saha said, "A few days ago, I had announced that public representatives, regardless of the party they belong to, should be invited to government programs."
"Yesterday, I also spoke to Union DoNER Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. The high-level task force has given me the responsibility of the development of the entire North Eastern region, that is, Ashtalakshi, as the chairperson. One by one, the Chief Ministers of all the North Eastern states have been given the responsibility of chairperson. The Chief Minister of Assam was earlier in charge of the development of the North Eastern region. But since he was busy with important work, that responsibility was given to me," he added.
"Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taught us that there is no alternative to work. Providing houses for people, providing drinking water, building roads--what is the point of doing politics in this? Politics can be done without politics. No politics is needed for development," Dr. Saha said.
The Chief Minister said that last year's budget was about Rs 27,000 crore, and in the financial year 2025-26, it has been increased to Rs 32,000 crore, with a huge amount allocated for infrastructure development, which the Prime Minister has also emphasised.
"Prime Minister Modi says that there will be no real development if there is no infrastructure development. A few days ago, I participated in the Investors Summit in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi. After the inauguration, there was an investment of Rs 30,000 crore. Out of this, about Rs 15,000 crore was invested in Tripura alone, because there is peace and stability in Tripura now," Dr. Saha said.
He added that today about 11 projects were inaugurated and two foundation stones were laid, with an estimated cost of about Rs 113 crore.
"As per the promise of the present government, drug de-addiction centers are being opened in all the districts of the state. This government is working for the people with the spirit of dedication. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is talking about building a New India. We are talking about building a better and New Tripura. In the coming days, we will build a New Tripura. Only then will it be possible to build a New India," the Chief Minister said.
Dr. Saha also highlighted developments in the health sector.
"Now, the number of MBBS seats in our state's medical colleges is 400. Agartala Government Dental College has 63 seats. The number of beds in GB Hospital has almost doubled compared to earlier. The foundation stone for the Critical Care Block and Communicable Disease Center, along with two special wards, was laid a few days ago," he said.
Chief Whip of the Tripura Legislative Assembly Kalyani Saha Roy, MLA Pinaki Das Chowdhury, MLA Nirmal Biswas, President of Khowai Zilla Parishad Aparna Singha Roy, Secretary of the Health Department Kiran Gitte, District Magistrate of Khowai district Rajat Pant, District Superintendent of Police Ranaditya Das, and other public representatives and officials were present as distinguished guests at the event.
