Gujarat CM Patel leads tree plantation in Ranip Ward under "Mission Four Million Trees" campaign

Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], September 18 : Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, along with officials, carried out a collective tree plantation at the garden behind Sabarmati Jail in Ranip Ward under the "Mission Four Million Trees" campaign organised by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, according to a release from CMO.
By planting trees under the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation's "Ek Ped Maa ke Naam" and "Mission Four Million Trees" campaigns, he spread the message of a Green Gujarat.
He urged citizens to plant more trees, protect them, and actively contribute to building a greener state.
It is noteworthy that, with the noble aim of expanding the city's green cover, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation launched the "Mission Four Million Trees" campaign, setting an ambitious target of large-scale plantation. Owing to meticulous planning and effective execution, the campaign achieved remarkable success this year, with 40,80,180 saplings planted by September 7.
Moreover, during the four Mondays of the holy Shravan month, a total of 54,883 tulsi plants were distributed and planted across all zones of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation On the day of Ekadashi in the month of Shravan, 491 trees of religious importance such as Kadam, Peepal, Sami, Sevan, Sitaashok, and Bael were also distributed and planted in all zones.
On the occasion of the Hon'ble Prime Minister's birthday on 17th September, 12,820 tulsi plants were distributed through tulsi distribution programs organised at religious places in every ward of Ahmedabad city.
According to the release, under this Mission Four Million Trees, plantation sites are identified using Google Maps, along with geo-tagging of each plantation site, and the growth and survival rate of the trees will also be monitored by the Municipal Corporation through LIDAR survey technology.
As part of this tree plantation program, which was held on Thursday at the garden behind Sabarmati Jail in Ranip Ward, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel planted a Putrajiva tree. Under this program, plantation of about 14,000 trees, including Ayurvedic species, is planned in 4,300 square meters using the Miyawaki method. In addition, under the Seva Saptah, various educational institutions, religious organisations, and societies also joined this initiative.
In this tree plantation program, the Mayor of Ahmedabad, Smt. Pratibha Jain, MP Narhari Amin, MLAs Dr. Harshad Patel, Jitendra Patel, Amul Bhatt, Municipal Commissioner Banchhanidhi Pani, Deputy Mayor Jatin Patel, Standing Committee Chairman Devang Dani, Heritage Committee Chairman Jayesh Trivedi, Leader of the Ruling Party Gaurang Prajapati, Dandak Sheetalben Daga, municipal councilors, AMC officials/employees, jail officials, intellectual citizens, representatives of voluntary and religious organisations, and other residents of the city were present. Everyone expressed their commitment to protecting the environment during the program.
