New Delhi [India], November 26 : Congress leader and Lok Sabha MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday wished everyone on the occasion of Constitution Day, while highlighting that it is a "suraksha kawach" (protective shield) for every deprived and backward person in the country.
She further reiterated her resolve to protect the Constitution "under all circumstances".
"Our Constitution guarantees liberty, equality, and justice to every citizen of the country and promises a life of dignity. It is a protective shield for every Indian, including the poor, deprived, Dalits, backward classes, and tribal communities, safeguarding all their rights," the Congress leader posted on X.
"Let us resolve to protect our Constitution under all circumstances. Heartfelt wishes to all fellow citizens on Constitution Day. Jai Hind! Jai Constitution!" she added.
Earlier, Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal also paid his respects to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, highlighting how his efforts ensured every Indian the right to equality, justice, and dignity.
"On Constitution Day, heartfelt salutations to Baba Saheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Ji. The Constitution he drafted has given every Indian the right to equality, justice, and dignity," Kejriwal said.
He further added that today is a great reminder that democracy is strengthened when the Constitution, and not power, is supreme.
"This day reminds us that democracy is strengthened only when the Constitution, not power, is supreme. Let us together resolve to protect the spirit of the Constitution--justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity," his post added.
Meanwhile, in Andhra Pradesh, the President of the YSR Congress party, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, also paid tribute to Bhimrao Babasaheb Ambedkar.
"76 years ago, Dr. Ambedkar gave us a Constitution rooted in Liberty and Equality. Today, the best tribute we can offer is to safeguard those values. Let us make sure that our democracy is fearless and transparent," his post read.
Constitution Day is observed annually on 26 November to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution in 1949.
