Aug 23, 2026
Chandigarh (Haryana) [India], August 23 : The Haryana government has announced a revised compensation structure for sanitation workers in a major move aimed at their financial well-being.
Under the updated framework, sanitation workers currently drawing a total remuneration of Rs 20,590--comprising a monthly base salary of Rs 19,000 alongside Rs 1,590 in allowances--will see a direct increase in their pay package. Upon the formal provision of job security under the state's updated guidelines, the total monthly payout will rise to Rs 22,590, the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) said.
This revised package features an enhanced monthly basic salary of Rs 21,000, supplemented by the existing Rs 1,590 allowance. Furthermore, the transition guarantees that covered employees will become eligible for regular annual salary increments, ensuring long-term financial progression aligned with the state's job security regulations.
The revision comes amid the ongoing protests of sanitation workers since August 6.
