Washington DC [US], January 17 : Actor Jason Momoa, who starred in 'A Minecraft Movie' as champion pro gamer Garrett 'The Garbage Man' Garrison, revealed that he has read the script of the sequel and described it as extremely funny, reported Deadline.
While appearing on 'The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon', Jason Momoa shared an update on the sequel, saying production is expected to start by the end of April this year.
"Very soon. Dude. Bro, end of April. They're in it. The script is even better. It's so good, I was laughing out loud. I haven't laughed out loud in a very long time at a script. I was perplexed on the first script, this one I'm laughing out loud," said Jason Mamoa at the show, as quoted by Deadline.
Director Jared Hess is returning to direct A Minecraft Movie 2 from a script by Hess & Chris Galletta, reported Deadline.
Hess previously said that a Minecraft Movie sequel "would be so much fun" after the first movie's record-breaking box office haul kicked off in April, becoming Warner Bros' third largest opening of all time.
"We had so much fun making this movie, and it's such an expansive world in the game, and there were so many things that we didn't tap into that we wanted to," explained Hess as quoted by Deadline.
"I would have a blast doing the sequel, and it seems like there's already talk about it happening, so I'm super excited. It'll be so much fun to go back into the world. The fans are just having such a good time. We teased it in the end credits, and the fans seem to be going wild for it," added Hess as quoted by Deadline.
The movie is set to hit theatres on July 23, 2027, reported Deadline.
