Indore (Madhya Pradesh) [India], July 19 : The body of a wanted accused carrying a reward of Rs 10,000 on his head for allegedly murdering his wife was found on the railway track of Ganjbasoda on Sunday morning, police said.
The accused, identified as Akhilesh Saini, was the prime accused in the murder of his wife, Assistant Postal Officer Urmila Saini, in the Sanyogitaganj police station area of Indore a few days ago.
The police had announced a reward of Rs 10,000 for the arrest of the accused. His body was discovered this morning within the jurisdiction of the Ganjbasoda Kotwali police station, and it is suspected that he died by suicide.
Indore Police Spokesperson, Rajesh Dandotiya, said that the accused handed over the ATM card of the deceased to his daughter before fleeing. When the daughter reached home, she discovered that her mother had been killed. Subsequently, an FIR was registered.
"Akhilesh Saini was accused of murdering his wife, Urmila Saini. After committing the murder, he absconded. Before fleeing, he had handed over an ATM card, which belonged to Urmila Saini, to his young daughter and left. Later, when the daughter reached home and opened the gate, she discovered that her mother had been killed. Following this, an FIR was registered," he said.
Dandotiya noted that the police used the CCTV footage to track the accused, moving toward the railway station and then outside the premises. Even though the footage was not entirely clear, continuous efforts were being made to arrest the accused.
"To ensure his arrest, a reward of Rs 10,000 was announced by DCP Zone-3, and a proposal to increase it to Rs 20,000 was also being processed. In the meantime, this information was received that the body of Akhilesh Saini was found, which has now been identified by his family, as stated by the station in-charge," he highlighted.
An investigation in the case is underway, and further details are awaited.
