Patna (Bihar) [India], January 27 : Former Congress leader Dr Shakeel Ahmad on Tuesday accused the Congress top line of directing youth Congress leaders to attack his residence in Patna and Madhubani, taking aim at Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi amid growing controversy.
Ahmad claimed he was informed by Congress Youth leaders about the instructions, saying, "I have not expressed an apprehension, but the leaders of the youth Congress have informed me this. I thank them for this...They are doing this on the instructions of the top leadership."
Directing his accusations towards the LS LoP, he alleges that the top leadership in Congress is limited to Rahul Gandhi.
Citing his X post on Monday, he said, "I wrote that some Congress colleagues secretly informed me that there would be an attack on my house in Madhubani and Patna tomorrow."
Ahmad claimed that the alleged attack plan stemmed from his statement about the latter.
He charged Gandhi with holding double standards, stating that many Bharatiya Janata Party leaders make regular statements about him. "Amit Shah ji gives statements about Rahul Gandhi every day. Why don't you react against them? I am not even in the Congress", he said.
Clarifying his stance on Congress, he said that he is a well-wisher, not an enemy beacuse he has pledged not join any other party, and even his last vote before his demise would belong to Congress.
"I am a well-wisher, I am not an enemy. I am a well-wisher because I have said it. I have pledged that I will never join any other party in my life. My last vote, the last vote I cast before I die, will go to the Congress and its supporting parties, and even if I have only five supporters left, they will vote for Congress. But they are treating me like an enemy.", he said.
This comes after his post on X on January 26 claimed that he was "secretly informed" about an impending attack.
"Just now, some Congress colleagues have secretly informed me that the national leadership of the Congress has issued orders to the Bihar Congress / Youth Congress that tomorrow, on 27 January, an attack should be carried out on my residences in Patna and Madhubani under the pretext of burning an effigy. This is against the principles of democracy.", the post read.
The controversy was triggered after Shakeel Ahmad, who recently parted ways with the Congress, launched a sharp attack on Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of sidelining senior leaders and undermining internal democracy within the party.
Speaking with ANI, Ahmad said that Gandhi has kept the youth Congress and NSUI together to achieve the same."Rahul Gandhi has kept the youth Congress and NSUI together as he wants to throw the senior established leaders out of the Congress party and replace them with leaders of the youth Congress and those who speak well of Rahul Gandhi," he said.
Shakeel Ahmed also claimed Rahul Gandhi is "uncomfortable" about collaborating with popular, veteran leaders.
He also alleged that Rahul Gandhi has a sense of superiority because of his Nehru-Gandhi lineage.
"I used to tell him don't do this, don't do that. I think he used to feel offended that someone is telling me these things; I belong to the Nehru-Gandhi family. He feels that everything is given to Congress by his family," he said.
Ahmed also alleged, "There is no internal democracy in the Congress party...In the Congress party, whatever Rahul Gandhi says is final."
