Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) [India], April 30 : India's first and largest artificial intelligence (AI) teacher training will commence in Kerala, announced the state's General Education Minister, V Sivankutty.
While unveiling the training programme's module in Munnar on Monday, the Minister said that 80,000 teachers will participate in this training, scheduled from May 2 to August 31.
According to the minister, practical training will be provided to each teacher using a laptop with internet access and a mobile phone. Alongside introducing the possibilities of artificial intelligence, this training will sensitise teachers to areas such as deepfakes, privacy issues, and their limitations.
The training aims to equip teachers to incorporate the latest technologies in the classroom while retaining academic value. Initially, all teachers from classes VIII to XII will undergo training. Subsequently, the training will extend to the primary and upper primary sectors.
By December 31, all teachers in Kerala will receive practical training in artificial intelligence, setting another model for the country, V Sivankutty added.
Additionally, he announced that the results of the SSLC examination for the academic year 2013-2024 will be published on May 8 at 3 pm. This year, 4,27,105 students appeared for the examination, with 10,863 teachers participating in the valuation across seventy camps state-wide.
The evaluation process, conducted from April 3 to 20, spanned fourteen days. Tabulation and grace mark entry were completed in the examination hall, and preparations for result declaration are underway.
The results of the higher secondary and vocational higher secondary examinations will be published on May 9, 2024.
Due to the heatwave warning, working hours have been rescheduled until May 15.
Strict action will be taken against employers found exploiting labourers between 12 and 3 pm, stated V Sivankutty, who also holds the labour portfolio.
He directed the labour commissioner to rigorously inspect all workplaces across the state and take appropriate action.
V Sivankutty noted that the Mahila Samakhya scheme has supported three thousand twenty individuals who dropped out of education to resume their studies.
Under this scheme, girls under 18, unable to reside in their homes due to various forms of violence, receive education at Mahila Samakhya Shikshan Kendras.
Operating in one hundred and one panchayats of Kerala, Mahila Samakhya engages in various educational activities.
