Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], April 4: Founders Gaganjeet and Alok are doubling down on genre-led storytelling as their production house, Low Gravity Productions, gears up for the release of their first film Indian Institute of Zombies (IIZ), slated for May 8, marking their first collaboration with Kuku TV.
Gaganjeet, an IIT Bombay graduate turned writer-director known for Campus Diaries and UP 65, has built a strong track record in youth-driven storytelling.
"For me, storytelling has always been about instinct and relatability. With Indian Institute of Zombies, we are taking a familiar world and flipping it into something unexpected," he said.
Alok Dwivedi, a filmmaker and visual artist with over a decade of experience across films, advertising, and festival-acclaimed projects like Hurdang and Mitti - Ek Nayi Pehchaan, brings a strong cinematic lens to the project. "The idea was to build a world that feels immersive yet accessible. Genre gives you that freedom, and zombies as a space are still largely untapped in India," he added.
Positioning Low Gravity Productions as a new-age, IP-first studio, the founders are focused on building high-concept, scalable narratives.
With Indian Institute of Zombies, they tap into the relatively unexplored zombie genre in India, set within a culturally relatable campus backdrop.
"India has a strong appetite for fresh storytelling, but genre films are still underexplored at scale. We wanted to create something that feels globally relevant yet locally rooted," the founders said.
Combining horror, humor, and youth culture, the film aims to deliver a distinctive cinematic experience for younger audiences while aligning with the growing demand for experimental content.
With Indian Institute of Zombies, Gaganjeet and Alok are not just launching their first film but signalling a broader push towards genre-first storytelling under the Low Gravity Productions banner.
