Patna (Bihar) [India], July 5 : Union Minister Chirag Paswan on Saturday, while speaking about the businessman Gopal Khemka murder case, said that it is "a matter of concern" and he won't run away from questions about it.
The Union Minister stated that if such an incident occurs in an urban or posh area, then it is a "serious" matter, and he is in touch with the government and local administration over the issue.
"This is indeed a matter of concern. I will neither try to run away from this question, nor should our Government attempt to do that...If such a huge incident occurs openly in urban areas, if this happens in such a posh area, it is a very serious matter. I am in touch with the Government as well as with the local administration", Chirag Paswan told reporters.
Chirag Paswan stated that such incidents have "aggravated" the government's concerns, and if the victim's family is scared, then it is justified.
"But such incidents aggravate our concerns...If the family (of Gopal Khemka) is scared, it is justified. This is a family that has faced this earlier as well. Did the local administration provide security to the family?... It was the responsibility of the administration", he said.
Earlier today, Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav and Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly alleged that hundreds of businessmen are being killed in Bihar, but we can't call it "Jungle Raj".
Yadav, a former Deputy Chief Minister, also raised questions over the law and order situation and said, "A few steps away from the police station in Patna, a prominent Bihar businessman was shot dead!"
"Hundreds of businessmen are being murdered in Bihar every month, but we can't call it jungle raj? Because this is what the scriptures call media management, perception management, and image management", Tejashwi Yadav wrote on 'X' in Hindi.
Earlier today, RJD leader Mrtiyunjay Tiwari slammed the Bihar government over the murder of businessman Gopal Khemka in Patna, alleging that the state has "descended into lawlessness" under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's leadership.
The RJD leader stated that Nitish Kumar is no longer fit to remain the Chief Minister of Bihar.
"Nitish Kumar is no longer fit to remain on the Chief Minister's chair even for a moment. Bihar has descended into a state of lawlessness... Only the departure of this government will bring good to Bihar", Mrityunjay Tiwari told ANI.
Meanwhile, the Bihar Police have set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the murder case. Patna Central SP will head the SIT.
