MCD Standing Committee directs officials to prepare a detailed action report on illegally operating hotels, bars and restaurants

New Delhi [India], December 24 : A meeting of the Standing Committee was held today under the chairpersonship of Satya Sharma, in which detailed discussions were held on important issues such as pollution control, the problem of stray animals, transfer of teachers, recognition of private schools, and illegally operating hotels, bars and restaurants.
According to the press release, the Committee seriously deliberated on the suggestions given by the councillors present in the meeting and issued clear directions to the concerned officials to ensure concrete, time-bound and result-oriented action.
During the meeting, Chairperson Satya Sharma stated that a detailed report on the actions being taken against illegally operating hotels, bars and restaurants in Delhi should be presented before the Committee. She directed the officials to clearly identify establishments whose licences have been renewed and those operating without permission or in violation of rules, and to ensure strict and swift action against illegal establishments.
As per the release, she further clarified that a zero-tolerance policy would be adopted against any establishment violating the rules and that no laxity would be tolerated in matters related to the health, safety and convenience of citizens. Officials informed the Committee that action is already being taken against illegal hotels, bars and restaurants.
At the same time, it was decided that a committee would be constituted regarding the grant of recognition to private primary schools by the Corporation, so that only those schools which comply with the prescribed rules and standards are granted recognition, and the quality of education is ensured.
In addition, the Chairperson directed that all questions raised by councillors during the meeting be answered by the concerned officials in writing with full responsibility, to ensure transparency and accountability.
The meeting was positive and solution-oriented, in which several important suggestions were given by the councillors, and many proposals related to public interest were approved unanimously. Chairperson Satya Sharma stated that the Municipal Corporation of Delhi will continue to work with full commitment to provide better facilities to the citizens.
