Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh) [India], July 10 : Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav reached Maharshi Sandipani Ashram located in Ujjain district on the occasion of Guru Purnima on Thursday, worshipped Maharshi Sandipani, Guru of Lord Krishna and remembered the legacy of imparting knowledge.
After performing the rituals of worship, CM Yadav spoke to reporters and said that he has been visiting Sandipani Ashram on the occasion of Guru Purnima for the last several years and worshipping Maharshi Sandipani.
"The history of Maharshi Sandipani Ashram has been extremely glorious and unique. About 5000 years ago, Lord Krishna, his friend Sudama and his elder brother Balram came here and received education from Maharshi Sandipani. Lord Shri Krishna studied 14 Vidyas and 64 arts in a very short time under the guidance of his Guru Maharshi Sandipani. Lord Krishna earned the title of Jagatguru by receiving the knowledge from Maharshi Sandipani. At present, India is again reclaiming its glorious past," the CM said.
The Chief Minister further extended his heartfelt greetings to everyone on the occasion of Guru Purnima.
According to the descendants of Maharshi Sandipani and priest of the temple, every year a special program is organised in the ashram on the occasion of Guru Purnima. Special worship and Panchamrit Abhishek were performed in the morning here at Sandipani Ashram, and the students who started their education for the first time worshipped the slate board here on the occasion.
Guru Purnima, also known as Vyasa Purnima, is a sacred occasion revered by Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain communities across India, Nepal, Bhutan, and beyond. This day honours the birth of Maharishi Ved Vyasa, the revered sage who compiled the Vedas and authored the Mahabharata, leaving an enduring spiritual legacy as the Adi Guru, or original teacher, whose teachings continue to shape these traditions.
