Motihari (Bihar) [India], November 8 : Emphasising the record voter turnout in the first phase of the Bihar elections and launching a sharp attack on the Mahagathbandhan, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday said that the people of Bihar have made it clear that no criminal will be able to commit crimes in the "dim light of the lantern" anymore.
Addressing an election rally in Motihari, CM Yogi expressed confidence in the National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) victory, asserting that Bihar will once again witness an NDA government "shining under the LED light" under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"The Bihar Assembly elections are currently underway. The first phase of polling was completed on November 6. In this phase, the people of Bihar have made it clear through the emerging trends that no one will be able to commit crimes in the dim light of the lantern anymore," CM Yogi said.
"Under the guidance of Prime Minister Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, when the results are announced on November 14, the state will once again witness an NDA government shining under the LED light," he added.
CM Yogi also attacked the Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), holding them equally responsible for the decline in literacy and development in the state.
"Bihar, a land with a glorious history, the land that gave the world Nalanda University and where Lord Buddha attained enlightenment, has unfortunately fallen behind in literacy. The blame for this downfall lies equally with the Congress and the RJD," Uttar Pradesh CM said.
Earlier today, affirming the National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) victory in the Bihar elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated his "katta" jibe at the Mahagathbandhan, declaring "Nahi chahiye Katta sarkaar, phir ek baar NDA sarkaar."
Addressing a massive rally in Sitamarhi, PM Modi described the atmosphere as "heart-touching" and said it reflected people's clear support for the NDA.
"The atmosphere we are witnessing in Sitamarhi today is heart-touching. This atmosphere is also conveying the message that - We don't want a Katta government, once again an NDA government," PM Modi said.
PM Modi praised the high voter turnout in the first phase of polling, saying it had delivered a "65-volt shock" to those who represented "jungle raj."
"Bihar has done wonders in the first phase of voting. In the first phase, the jungle raj folks have been dealt a 65-volt shock. Everywhere, the discussion is that Bihar's youth have chosen development, have chosen NDA. Bihar's sisters and daughters have also ensured NDA's record victory," the Prime Minister added.
The first phase of the Bihar elections, which saw a record voter turnout of 65.08 per cent, marked the highest polling percentage in the state's history.
The first phase of polling in Bihar concluded recently, with elections for 122 seats scheduled on November 11 for the second phase. The results of the Bihar Assembly elections are slated to be announced on November 14.
