Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], April 29 : Calling herself sensible, BJP candidate Madhavi Latha, who faced flak days after a video showing her purportedly gesturing to shoot an arrow in the direction of a mosque during a Ram Navami procession on April 17, said that no one would want to shoot anyone and we know our limits.
She is facing AIMIM Chief Asaduddi Owaisi from the Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency in the 2024 general elections.
Speaking with ANI, Latha said, "He is a person who shoots everybody. Nobody would want to shoot anyone. We know our limits. We know legally what is fair, and what is unfair. We don't take the law into our own hands like the Asaduddin or AIMIM party..."
"If they lodged a complaint when I put an arrow into the sky, doesn't that mean that they want to chop me? Then, in that case, what are they trying to do? They're trying to kill me, right? But we don't use such words for them. We are sensible people," she added.
The BJP candidate also slammed Owaisi.
"Despite being a barrister, I think he's (Owaisi) lost his senses. I can't talk to such people anymore."
"And to put an end to the brotherhood here. That video of the arrow was to create disturbance in the Telangana. That video depicted their goals," he said earlier in the month.
After the video went viral, Owaisi termed the gesture an "attempt to destroy the peace" of Hyderabad.
Voting for all 17 seats in Telangana will take place on May 13 in the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024.
In the 2019 general election, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) won nine seats, the Bharatiya Janata Party four, Congress three and AIMIM one seat.
The voting for the first two phases has been completed so far. The next round of voting will be held on May 7.
Lok Sabha polls are being held across seven phases till June 1 and votes will be counted on June 4.
