Balochistan [Pakistan], April 5 : Reports of enforced disappearances and subsequent releases across multiple districts of Balochistan have once again drawn attention to the ongoing human rights situation in the province.
Several individuals have recently gone missing under circumstances allegedly involving Pakistani security forces, while others have resurfaced after prolonged periods of disappearance, as reported by The Balochistan Post.
According to The Balochistan Post, in Panjgur's Parom area, at least four men were reportedly taken into custody in mid-March. Mohsin, Yahya, and Abdul Ahad were allegedly detained at the Jirek crossing on March 16. In a separate case, Karim, a Zamyad driver from the same region, was reportedly picked up from Turbat's Josak area on April 2.
Sources claim he had previously been subjected to enforced disappearance, raising concerns about repeated detentions. Meanwhile, there have also been reports of individuals being released after weeks, months, or even years in custody. Faheem Sumalani, who had gone missing earlier in March, was released in Quetta later that same month. Similarly, Hayat Bibi, originally from Awaran and detained in February, was reportedly freed in Khuzdar.
Other cases include Nizam from Gwadar, who returned home after being missing since December 2025, and two men from Khuzdar, Yasir Ahmed and Naveed Ahmed, who were released in Quetta after having disappeared in 2023. Additionally, four individuals from Surab, reportedly detained on March 28, were released just days later along the RCD Highway, as highlighted by The Balochistan Post.
Such incidents continue to fuel anxiety among families, many of whom have staged protests and appealed for the safe recovery of their loved ones. Human rights advocates have also intensified their calls for accountability, urging authorities to end the practice of enforced disappearances and ensure that all detainees are presented before courts of law, as reported by The Balochistan Post.
