"People don't need proof, it's all done by Pakistan": Sena-UBT MP Priyanka Chaturvedi on P Chidambaram's remarks on Op Sindoor

New Delhi [India], July 28 : Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi on Monday rebutted former Home Minister P Chidambaram's remarks, saying that people "do not need any proof" over Pakistan's involvement in the Pahalgam terror attack, noting instances of Islamabad's involvement in previous terror activities.
Priyanka Chaturvedi also emphasised that the proof of Pakistan's involvement is that they defended The Resistance Front (TRF) at the United Nations Security Council.
TRF claimed responsibility for the Pahalgam terror attack in a post on X, in which 26 people were killed; however, they retracted the post, saying that their account was hacked.
Speaking with ANI, Priyanka Chaturvedi said, "He (P Chidambaram) has been a former Home Minister and has worked in a lot of ministries. In the history of the last 70 years between India and Pakistan, we have had wars with them and faced their terror activities. The proof is that first the TRF took the responsibility (of Pahalgam), then it retracted. Pakistan speaks at the UN on behalf of the TRF. The US has declared them a terrorist organisation."
"People do not need proof. We have faced it. It is all done by Pakistan, which could neither progress itself nor does it want anyone else to do so. It," she added.
Additionally, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut agreed with P Chidambaram's statement and demanded the resignation of Home Minister Amit Shah.
"Chidambaram sahib might be saying the right thing. Home Minister should have resigned," he said.
In a July 27 interview with the Quint news outlet, P Chidambaram raked up controversy by saying, "I mean, for all we know, they could be homegrown terrorists. Why do you assume that they came from Pakistan? There's no evidence of that. They are also hiding the losses."
He also questioned the efforts ofthe Central government to identify and capture the terrorists involved in the Pahalgam terror attack.
"Where are the terrorist attackers? Why have you not apprehended them? Why have you not even identified them? Suddenly, a news item emerges that we have arrested two or three people who gave them shelter. Now what happened to that?" Chidambaram asked.
He added that the government was "unwilling to disclose what the NIA has done all these weeks. Have they identified the terrorists, where they came from?"
BJP has hit back at the Congress leader's remarks with party spokesperson Amit Malviya alleging that the Congress "always bend over backwards to protect the enemy."
Twenty-six civilians were killed in the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, after which India retaliated through precision strikes under Operation Sindoor, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
