Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], November 20 : The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) organised the second edition of "India Business and Public Policy Forum" under the aegis of its State Development Council and Chhattisgarh State Chapter in association with Visa Inc in Raipur on Wednesday.
The initiative is meant to support businesses and the community to converge with the government and the policy-making process in states.
"A fast-changing international business landscape is increasingly offering unprecedented opportunities and challenges. India, the world's fourth largest economy and with an undeniable potential to further claim the better green shoots, is a happening place where the business expertise should be shaped through the global business fundamentals. In the modern time, public policy is a key enabler of greater government-industry interfaces, exploring the key challenges and opportunities facing governments and organisations, while diving deeper into everything from business strategy and geopolitics, to trade law and sustainability," said Atul K Thakur, Senior Secretary, PHDCCI, in his opening remarks.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest Rajeev Agrawal, Chairman, Chhattisgarh State Industrial Development Corporation (CSIDC), Government of Chhattisgarh, said, "The global context is invaluable, especially to have a hands-on approach for the ins and outs of cross-border trade, global governance and more for both the public and private sector. Chhattisgarh is known for its progressive investment policy in the state with a single window system and other enabling systems in place."
"Be it infrastructure, connectivity and required commitment for sustainable industrial development in the state, Chhattisgarh is offering unique policy advantages for doing investment and business in the state. We should value our own capability and without deterring with the global challenges that offer opportunities as well. India's track record has been to successfully navigate the challenges and come out stronger after every crisis," Agarwal said.
He added that Chhattisgarh's New Industrial Policy would take the state to newer heights with quality employment opportunities and ensure balanced economic growth. PHDCCI's initiative for making a public policy dialogue platform is remarkable.
Mehul Gupta, Head-Public Policy & Regulatory Affairs, Visa India, reflected on Visa's outreach in states to support MSMEs with solutions for safer digital payment and enabling skilling and technology support.
With a clearer understanding for the global business landscape and how private organisations and governments alike can deliver lasting social or economic change with new innovations, technology and services in India's states, PHDCCI's State Development Council has launched a new policy dialogue and government-industry outreach series in states called "India Business & Public Policy Forum".
The programme attended by the leading policymakers from the government and industry leaders aimed to bridge the gap between business and policy and equip the stakeholders to make an impact in business that reaches beyond borders.
The first edition of the "India Business and Public Policy Forum" was organised in Madhya Pradesh's capital, Bhopal, in September this year.
