Chikballapur (Karnataka) [India], April 18 : Chief Minister Siddaramaiah launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of betraying the trust of Indians by failing to fulfil promises made over the past decade.
"Modi has betrayed the trust of the Indians without fulfilling any of the promises he made in the last 10 years," Siddaramaiah said.
Siddaramaiah asserted that neither the BJP, which he claimed has failed to fulfil its promises, nor the JDS, which he accused of lacking morality by associating with the BJP, deserve votes.
He criticised former Prime Minister and JD (S) Chief HD Deve Gowda, stating, "BJP, which has not fulfilled its promise, and JDS, which is associated with them, do not have the morality to ask for votes. Deve Gowda, who had vowed to leave the country if Modi became the Prime Minister, has now embraced the same Modi. It is just Deve Gowda's illusion that the state Congress government will fall after the elections."
Talking about the stability of the state Congress government, Siddaramaiah confidently stated, "The government is secure for five years, and we will win again."
Speaking at the Prajadhwani-2 public rally held at Bagepally in Chikballapur Lok Sabha constituency, he called for the victory of Congress candidate Raksha Ramaiah.
Regarding Modi's upcoming visit to Chikkaballapur to campaign for BJP candidate K Sudhakar, Siddaramaiah said that he is coming to ask for votes in favour of the corrupt BJP leader.
''Prime Minister Modi is coming to Chikkaballapur to ask for votes in favour of Sudhakar, who has been defeated due to widespread corruption during Covid. BJP lost miserably in all the constituencies where Modi had campaigned in the assembly elections. The same will happen in the Lok Sabha elections, too,'' Siddaramaiah said.
Siddaramaiah promised that if Congress came to power at the centre, new guarantees would be implemented, including depositing one lakh rupees annually in women's accounts, announcing minimum support prices for farmers' crops, and implementing the Swaminathan report to aid farmers.
"Modi, who created an illusion and deceived Indians, will be rejected this time. Congress-led Government will come to power at the centre and the new guarantees will be implemented," Siddaramaiah said.
He criticised the BJP's loan waivers for the rich, pledging to waive off loans for farmers across the country. Siddaramaiah highlighted the state government's guarantee schemes, claiming that they save 5 to 6 thousand rupees monthly due to the schemes.
Karnataka is going to the polls in two phases. The southern segments of the state will vote on April 26 in the second phase, and those in the northern parts will vote in the second phase on May 7 in the third phase.
