New Delhi [India], November 14 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that NDA's sweeping victory in Bihar has paved the way for BJP's victory in assembly polls next year and asserted that the party will end "jungle raj" in the state.
Addressing a victory function at the party's headquarters here, PM Modi took several jibes at Congress and RJD following the results of the Bihar polls in which the two parties were decimated.
PM referred to some states and union territories where the BJP has never formed a government of its own and said the massive victory in Bihar has infused party workers in Kerala, Puducherry and West Bengal with new energy.
PM Modi, who during his rallies took repeated "jungle raj" jibes at the RJD, took a similar swipe at the Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal.
"Ganga flows through Bihar and reaches Bengal. Bihar has also paved the way for the BJP's victory in Bengal. I also congratulate the brothers and sisters of Bengal. Now, together with you, the BJP will uproot jungle raj from West Bengal as well," he said.
With the Rashtriya Janata Dal suffering a massive blow in the polls, PM Modi said, "Bihar mein RJD ko saanp soongha hua hain".
He also referred to earlier differences between RJD and Congress on seat sharing. "As I said during the Bihar elections, the conflict between the two parties will soon come to the fore."
He said NDA returning to power in the state is the beginning of a new journey.
"The trust Bihar has placed in us has placed even greater responsibility on our shoulders. I assure you that in the coming five years, Bihar will progress at a faster pace. New industries will be established in Bihar. We will work tirelessly to ensure that Bihar's youth find employment within Bihar. Investment will come to Bihar. This investment will bring more jobs. Tourism will expand in Bihar. The world will see Bihar's new potential. Our pilgrimage sites, places of faith, and our historical heritage will be rejuvenated," he said.
PM Modi also urged investors across India and abroad to invest in Bihar, calling this "the most opportune time" to invest.
"Today, I will also tell investors from across the country and the world that Bihar is ready to welcome you. I will also tell the children of Bihar living across the country and the world that this is the most opportune time to invest in Bihar," PM Modi said.
"With the new government, the NDA is now moving forward towards a golden journey of 25 years in Bihar. Bihar has ensured that Jungle Raj will never return to this great land of Bihar. Today's victory belongs to the mothers, sisters, and daughters of Bihar who endured the terror of Jungle Raj for years under RJD rule. It belongs to the youth of Bihar whose future was ruined by the terror of Congress and the Red Flag people. Today, that Red Corridor, those days of terror, are history. Bihar is moving forward on the path of development, and this journey is not going to stop now," he added.
He congratulated the Election Commission, security forces, and the "conscious voters of Bihar" for the record voting percentage.
"The country is proud of all of you. The Bihar elections have proven another thing. Now, the country's voters, especially our young voters, take voter list purification very seriously. The youth of Bihar have also overwhelmingly supported voter list purification. And I believe that for the sanctity of democracy, every voter has their importance and rights. Now, it is the responsibility of every party to activate their parties at the polling booths and enthusiastically participate in the voter list purification work. Contribute 100%, so that voter lists can be fully purified in other places as well," he said.
PM Modi took repeated digs at Congress and also took potshots at its leader, Rahul Gandhi.
"The foundation of Congress' political approach is rooted in negativity. It focuses on raising objectionable slogans, disrupting parliamentary proceedings, attacking key institutions, casting doubt on EVMs, maligning the Election Commission and promoting division along lines of caste and religion. Congress lacks a constructive or forward-looking vision for the nation. In reality, it has transformed into what can be described as MMC: the 'Muslim League Maoist Congress'," he said.
He said if the people are re-electing the BJP-led NDA government, it signifies the establishment of a pro-people, pro-governance, and pro-development agenda.
"This represents a new foundation in Indian politics," he said.
As PM Modi concluded his address, chants of "Vande Mataram" and "Bharat Mata ki Jai" echoed through the venue. He reminded the gathering that this year marks the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram and expressed gratitude to every voter who contributed to Bihar's mandate.
"I once again express my gratitude to every voter of Bihar. This year marks the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram," he said.
The NDA is on the verge of creating history in Bihar by winning 202 of 243 seats.
