New Delhi [India], April 2 : Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that under the leadership of Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the Delhi government has set a target to plant over 70 lakh trees and shrubs in collaboration with 22 departments under the Green Action Plan 2026-27.
Sirsa, in a X post, wrote, "Under the leadership of the Honourable Chief Minister Smt. @gupta_rekha Ji, a target has been set to plant over 70 lakh trees and shrubs in collaboration with 22 departments under the Green Action Plan 2026-27. This is not just about tree plantation, but a commitment to making Delhi's future clean, healthy, and green."
He emphasised that the drive is not just about tree plantation, but a commitment to making Delhi's future clean, healthy, and green.
"Our government is not limited to merely controlling pollution, but is working to rapidly increase Delhi's greenery. The responsibility to make Delhi green lies with all of us," he said," Sirsa said.
He added that the initiative is inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Ek Ped Maa ke Naam' campaign, and aims to strengthen the fight against pollution through multi-layer plantation, ensuring that the capital's green cover is further expanded compared to last year.
Earlier on March 23, during the press conference, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said 'Viksit Delhi, Harit Delhi' is not just a slogan, but a clear vision of the government, through which a positive, safe, and prosperous environment will be created where common people can live with happiness and satisfaction.
"Last year, the government worked to change the direction of Delhi, and now, through this budget, concrete steps will be taken to improve the condition of the capital," she said.
The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to the people of Delhi, saying the government is working continuously with the blessings and trust of the people.
"The government is committed to serving the people 24x7 and will continue to work every day to make Delhi better," she added.
