Aug 27, 2025
Chandigarh (Haryana) [India], August 27 : Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday took a sharp jab at the Congress party, accusing it of strangling democracy and said that booth captures used to happen during the Congress government.
CM Saini said that the opposition protested every time the government spoke in the parliament during the monsoon session and also brought the adjournment motion on issues they found problematic.
CM Nayab Singh Saini said, "The Congress is the one that strangles democracy. The Congress itself brought the adjournment motion. They brought the adjournment motion on the issue they felt was problematic. They spoke on every issue. Not a single person from our side spoke; they listened to everything. But when the government was responding, they started protesting and walked out"
He further accused the Congress of booth capture during their government and said, "They talk about vote theft, but if a debate happens on this, it will be clear that they are the ones who stole the most votes. They used to capture booths; this happened during their tenure. There are many such cases."
This statement of CM Saini comes at a time when the Leader of Opposition of Lok Sabha and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is in Bihar conducting 'Vote Adhikar Yatra'.
Rahul Gandhi has continuously accused the BJP and the EC of alleged 'vote chori', and he and the INDIA block demanded a discussion on SIR. The Monsoon session of Parliament witnessed adjournments, and several protests were staged by the INDAI block as well.
Earlier in the day, Rahul Gandhi questioned Amit Shah's claim on the BJP's long-term political dominance, attributing it to 'vote chori' or vote theft.
Gandhi targeted BJP leader Amit Shah's recent statement claiming the party would stay in power for the next 40 years.
He said, "A few days ago, Amit Shah said that the BJP will remain in power for the next 40 years. No one knows what would happen in politics, but Amit Shah knows the future for the next 40 years. How? Vote Chori."
The Lok Sabha LoP also criticised the BJP for allegedly stealing votes, noting even six-year-old children made such observations.
He said, "On my way here, a group of 6-year-olds looked at me and said 'Narendra Modi Vote chor'. Children as young as 6 years have understood that votes are being stolen in India."
