Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], September 12 : Amid the backlash from the BJP after the Bihar unit of the Congress party shared an AI-generated video mocking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother, former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday said such discussions about a mother not appropriate.
He stressed that mothers should be respected, no matter the political differences.
Speaking to the reporters, Ashok Gehlot said, "We respect all mothers. Rahul Gandhi respects PM Modi's mother...It does not matter if it is about a mother from the ruling party or the opposition...This kind of discussion about a mother is not right."
Earlier in the day, the Bihar unit of the Congress posted the video in which PM Modi was seen dreaming about his late mother, Heeraben Modi, who is lambasting him over his politics.
The Congress had also come under fire early this month, when an unknown person had gone up to the stage of Congress-led 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' in Bihar's Darbhanga and hurled abuses at PM Modi and his late mother. In reponse, the BJP launched a massive attack against the opposition parties, especially Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and its leaders Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav over the alleged abuses.
BJP leader CT Ravi on Friday strongly condemned the Congress party over an AI-generated video posted by the Bihar Congress, featuring characters resembling Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother.
Ravi described the Congress party as a "clan of thieves" that always accuses others. He further accused the Congress of doing "vote chori."
Speaking to ANI, CT Ravi said, "Congress is a clan of thieves. Such people always make accusations against others. Who did 'Vote Chori'? Congress. They lost even the Vice Presidential election, which was conducted on ballots. With the blessings of God, India has received a leader like PM Modi."
Rajasthan Bharatiya Janata Party BJP president Madan Rathore came down heavily on the Congress over the AI-generated video and said that those who get frustrated in politics resort to "cheap tactics".
"Congress has lost its dominance and is resorting to cheap tactics. Sometimes they use indecent words in the name of (PM Modi's) mother. Congress has done mimicry by uploading this video on its state handle, and this is highly condemnable. In politics, when someone gets disappointed or frustrated, they resort to cheap tactics. Whatever condemnable acts Congress has done, society will also condemn them and will also teach them a lesson," Rathore said.
