Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], August 27 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader CT Ravi on Wednesday slammed the Congress after Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar apologised for singing the RSS anthem in the State Assembly. He said traitors get mercy from the Congress high command, but not patriots.
"Saying 'Namaste Sada Vatsale' means you have to apologise, but even saying 'Pakistan Zindabad' is no issue! This is the Congress mentality. Traitors get mercy from the high command, but not patriots. Is this the patriotism hidden in the hearts of your Congress people?" Ravi said in a post on X.
"No matter if it's unrighteousness in front of righteousness, or acting without a mask, it can't last long @DKShivakumar. Your high command had to come to reveal the truth behind the mask of your Hindutva," he added.
The BJP leader alleged that the chair of the Deputy Chief Minister "is now shaking under the attack of the high command."
"When the chair of the honourable Deputy Chief Minister, who used to repeatedly say 'I am a staunch Hindu, I am a devotee of Shiva,' is now shaking under the attack of the high command, and you've changed colours like a chameleon and apologised, where did your self-respect go?"
"Surrendering completely to the fake Gandhi family, the courage to justify in front of the high command that the terrorists who planted a bomb in the kennel are my brothers--where did that come from!"
Ravi alleged that Congress leaders don't have the freedom to prostrate and pray to Bharata Mata.
"Even after proclaiming that the nation is supreme, you've ended up in a situation where you have to apologise to the high command--what happened to your personal prestige..? Even while living on Bharata's soil, Congress leaders don't have the freedom to prostrate and pray to Bharata Mata, and freedom of speech is already gone. In such a case, what freedom is left for Congress leaders within the party? If this continues like this, one day even singing the national anthem will become a crime in Congress," he said.
On Tuesday, apologising to party workers and India bloc leaders if he had inadvertently hurt their sentiments, DK Shivakumar said that he had not done anything wrong.
Addressing a press conference at Vidhana Soudha to clear the air about singing the anthem of RSS, he said, "I haven't praised the RSS. It is my job to learn about my opponents. I sang a few lines of the RSS anthem in the Assembly to pull the leg of Leader of the Opposition R Ashok. I was only trying to tell Ashok that I know his background. But, some people have taken out only the anthem without the context and are making national news."
