Uttarakhand CM confers 'Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman' award', lauds contribution of late Hindi litterateur Shailesh Matiyani

Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], November 17 : Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday presented the "Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman Award 2025", conferred upon renowned Hindi litterateur the late Shailesh Matiyani, to his son Rakesh Matiyani at a ceremony held at the Chief Minister's residence.
This honour has been awarded in recognition of the late Matiyani's literary accomplishments, his invaluable contribution to Hindi storytelling, and his role in giving a strong identity to Uttarakhand's cultural heritage.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that Shailesh Matiyani was not just a writer, but a master craftsman of human emotions. His contribution to the modern Hindi short-story movement is unforgettable. The way he portrayed the pain, struggles, and realities of common people with such impactful expression firmly places him among the finest creators of Indian literature, a release said.
The Chief Minister added that the Government of Uttarakhand has always respected the contributions of great talents who, through their writings, actions, and creativity, have inspired future generations. Many of the late Matiyani's works, such as "Borivali se Boribandar", "Muthbhed", "Ardhangini", and "Cheel", remain equally relevant today and hold an important place in Hindi literature.
He said that presenting this posthumous honour to Matiyani's family is a moment of pride for the state government. While honouring his son, the Chief Minister remarked that respecting literary figures enriches both society and the state.
The late Shailesh Matiyani's son expressed gratitude to the Government of Uttarakhand and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, saying that this honour is a moment of pride for all literature enthusiasts and admirers of Matiyani ji across the state.
