Patna (Bihar) [India], August 16 : Ahead of the Bihar assembly elections, Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor on Saturday emphasised the need for an "ideology-driven political equation" instead of MY-equation (Muslims-Yadavs) to challenge the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state.
Speaking to reporters, the Jan Suraaj founder proposed a social-political alliance between Hindus who believe in the ideology of Gandhi, Jayaprakash Narayan, Babasaheb Ambedkar, and Ram Manohar Lohia, and Muslims to defeat the BJP.
"We only believe in one equation and that is an ideology-based equation... More than half of the Hindus in this country are not with the BJP on the basis of ideology. Jan Suraaj's formula is not MY-formula, Jan Suraaj's formula is that all Hindus who believe in the ideology of Gandhi, Jayaprakash Narayan, Babasaheb Ambedkar, Ram Manohar Lohia should form a social-political alliance with Muslims, and if that happens, we will defeat the BJP badly," Prashant Kishor said.
Meanwhile, Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition (LoP) and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi is set to launch 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' across Bihar, which will cover more than 20 districts, spanning 1,300 kilometres over 16 days.
The Voter Adhikaar Yatra is a campaign led by Rahul Gandhi and other INDIA bloc leaders to raise awareness about voter rights and protest against alleged "vote theft" and alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls.
In a social media post on X, Rahul Gandhi wrote, "'16 days 20+ districts 1,300+ km We are coming among the people with the Voter Adhikaar Yatra. This is the fight to protect the most fundamental democratic right - 'one person, one vote.' Join us in Bihar to save the Constitution."
The announcement comes amid ongoing protests by the INDIA bloc leaders against the alleged "vote chori" (vote theft) and alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
