New Delhi [India], December 6 : Following days of widespread disruptions across IndiGo's network that led thousands of people stranded across the country, Janata Dal (United) MP Sanjay Jha on Saturday said that they will definitely report the matter in the Parliament as it is an unfortunate incident where so many flights were cancelled, ultimately affected the common man.
Speaking to ANI, Jha said, "The government has taken many initiatives regarding this. But it's very unfortunate that such an incident has occurred, with so many people stranded at various airports and so many flights cancelled. Things will return to normal in the next 3-4 days. Ticket rates have risen significantly. My own flight was cancelled, and plans had to be changed. The committee in Parliament will definitely convene all stakeholders and regulators on this issue. This is a very important issue, and it will delve into the details and, after consulting with any major stakeholders, will certainly make suggestions."
He said that this incident is unprecedented, and it will be ensured that such an incident is not repeated.
"This incident, of such a magnitude, should not be brought before the committee until we call all the stakeholders and regulators who were supposed to oversee this, and we will delve into the details. The government is also looking into why there was a delay in the airline's implementation of the law that prescribes fixed working hours for pilots. We will definitely report on this in the Parliament," Jha added.
Meanwhile, in the wake of recent disruptions, Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation Murlidhar Mohol on Saturday said the DGCA has set up a four-member committee to review operational disruptions at IndiGo Airlines.
The committee will look into issues like crew planning, operational readiness, and compliance with new flight duty time regulations to prevent such incidents in the future.
Mohol also assured that the Ministry is taking all necessary steps to ensure smooth travel for passengers.
IndiGo operations across India remained severely disrupted even on Saturday, with more than 100 flights cancelled, leaving thousands of passengers stranded at airports in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Guwahati, and other cities.
