West Bengal: CBI recovers large number of arms, ammunition from residence of Sheikh Shahjahan's associate

Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], April 26 : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted searches at two premises in Sandeshkhali, in connection with the case related to violence against Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials, and recovered a large number of arms and ammunition including foreign-made postal and revolvers, informed a press release.
A case was registered by the law enforcement agency vide RC.2/2024-Kol in pursuance of orders of the Calcutta High Court in the matter of violence against ED personnel during a search at the residential and official premises of Sheikh Shahjahan.
During the investigation, CBI received information that the items lost by the ED team as well as other incriminating articles may be hidden at the residence of Shahjahan's associate in Sandeshkhali, North 24 Parganas.
Accordingly, the team of CBI along with CRPF personnel searched two premises at Village Sandeshkhali, North 24 Parganas on Friday.
The team recovered: Three foreign-made revolvers, one Indian revolver, one Colt official police revolver, one foreign-made pistol, one country-made pistol, 120 09 mm bullets, 50 .45 calibre cartridges, 120 09 mm calibre cartridges, 50 .380 cartridges and eight .32 cartridges, the agency stated.
Besides this, many incriminating documents related to Sheikh Shahjahan were also recovered. Some items suspected to be country-made bombs have also been recovered which are being handled and disposed of by the teams from NSG.
Further search is ongoing, the officials said.
