AAI encouraging local artisans through AVSAR scheme

Jan 28, 2023

Airports Authority of India has taken an initiative to allocate space to Self Help Groups at its airports for selling and showcasing the self-made products of their region. Stalls have been allotted to local handicraftsmen and artisans under the AVSAR scheme. At Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport located in Kolkata, products made by women, like hand bags, scarves, stoles, footwear, cups, and several other products related to the culture of West Bengal are also available. Similarly, this scheme has been implemented at Bagdogra Airport and Ranchi airport. Apart from giving opportunity to strengthen self-help groups by allotting space at airports, AAI is also helping in promotion and trade of local folk arts, crafts, useful and quality products of India. The increasing footfall at these stalls indicates the success of the scheme.
