Affordable IVF Care at Gujarat's IKDRC Brings Hope to Couples

Affordable fertility treatment is offering new hope to hundreds of couples in Gujarat. At Ahmedabad’s Civil Hospital campus, the IVF unit at the Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Centre (IKDRC) has expanded its services, providing advanced reproductive care at significantly lower costs than private hospitals. Operational since 2005, the centre is equipped with a modern embryology lab, computer-aided sperm analysis and genetic testing facilities. Around 400–500 couples undergo IVF treatment here every year, with a success rate of nearly 40 percent. While private IVF treatment can cost ₹7–8 lakh, the procedure here is available for about ₹1–1.5 lakh, making specialised healthcare more accessible.
