Amritpal Singh Arrested: Security tightened in Assam’s Dibrugarh jail

Dibrugarh (Assam), Apr 23 (ANI): Fugitive Khalistan sympathiser Amritpal Singh has finally been arrested by Punjab Police. The state police arrested the absconder from Moga district of Punjab on April 23. He was on the run since March 18, the day Punjab Police launched a massive manhunt for him. As per the Sources, Amritpal Singh is being shifted to Assam’s Dibrugarh jail where eight of his aides are already being held. As per sources, security has been tightened at Dibrugarh Airport in Assam ahead of Amritpal’s arrival. Additional CRPF, Black Panthers (Assam Commando BN) have also been rushed to Dibrugarh jail, added sources. Punjab police has been on a hunt for Amritpal Singh since March 18 after declaring him a fugitive. A statewide search operation was conducted, a lookout circular, non-bailable warrant was issued against Amritpal. Also, National Security Act has been invoked against Amritpal Singh and some of his aides. Notably, on April 20, Amritpal’s wife Kirandeep Kaur was detained from Amritsar while she was trying to board a flight to Birmingham.
