Bairabi-Sairang rail line connects Mizoram's Aizawl to national network for first time in decades

Description: Onboard, August 20, 2025 (ANI): Bairabi Sairang New Line Railway project which is connecting the capital of mizoram to national railway network started in 2014, First-ever successful trial run to Sairang, near Aizawi in Mizoram was conducted on 1st May, 2025 marking a historic step in connecting Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram, to the national railway network The total length of project is 51.38km which has four section and approx 8071 cr spend on this project. Bairabi-Sairang New Line Railway Project, from Hortoki to Sairang was thoroughly inspected by the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), Northeast Frontier Circle. This makes a significant milestone, as it completes the entire 51.38 km rail line, buidling direct rail connectivity to Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram for the very first time. Establishes Mizoram as the fourth North-eastern state with its capital city linked to the national railway network Represents a landmark achievement in strengthening rail connectivity across the North-East region The line has total 48 tunnels with 55 major bridges and 87 minor bridges. In this whole route brige number 196 is tallest rail brige. The total height of Qutub minar is 72.5 meter but in this rail route sairang bridge height is 42 meters taller than qutub minar The bridge innugaration will take place within couple of months. Once the bridge is in fuction it will overcome the difficult terrain and logistical challenge with this state is facing for very long time, also it will improve rail connectivity and will reduce transport cost.
