Bhuvneshwar Mahadev Temple Emerges as Major Spiritual Tourism Hub in North Gujarat

Feb 25, 2026

Nestled in Gujarat’s Aravalli district, amid the Indrasi dam reservoir, the self-manifested Bhuvneshwar Mahadev Temple also known as the Bhavnath Temple —believed to be sage Bhrigu’s ancient ashram—stands as a beacon of faith. With improved pilgrim amenities and heritage conservation, the Gujarat Government is positioning the shrine as a rising religious tourism hub. The shrine houses a revered Swayambhu Shivling. During Shravan, especially Mondays, thousands gather for abhishek with water and milk. Chants of “Har Har Mahadev” fill the air, drawing devotees from Gujarat and beyond, offering a profound experience of peace and divine connection. In a boost to religious tourism, the Gujarat Government has constructed a modern guest house at the temple premises. Part of a broader heritage push, the initiative enables devotees to stay longer, pray peacefully, and experience a deeper spiritual calm. Apart from that people are also awestruck witnessing the road that has been built leading to the temple.
