Patna (Bihar), Aug 20, 2026 (ANI): Bihar CM Samrat Choudhary, along with Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, handed over house keys to beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana - Gramin (PMAY-G), the rural housing scheme of the central government in Patna on Aug 20. “This is a historic time in itself, and I witnessed the days when the Indira Awas Yojana was launched in 1986... But when Modi's government was formed, he alone provided 50 lakh houses to the poor in Bihar from 2014 to 2026 of allotments...,” said Samrat Choudhary. “According to the 2018 survey of Pradhan Mantri Awas Plus in Bihar, approximately 19 lakh permanent houses were left out of our list. In the last two years, during Shivraj Chouhan's tenure as minister, approximately 19 lakh people have been provided with permanent houses...A home provides security, respect, and a firm future. The true mark of development is when its benefits reach the families most in need…,” he added.
