C R Patil launches Ganga Aquatic Life Conservation Centre in Dehradun

Dehradun (Uttrakhand), January 18 (ANI): Union Minister for Jal Shakti C.R. Patil inaugurated the Ganga Aquatic Life Conservation Monitoring Centre at the Wildlife Institute of India (WII), Dehradun on January 13, under the Namami Gange Mission. The centre will strengthen scientific monitoring and protection of aquatic and riverine biodiversity. Several key conservation projects were launched, including a Dolphin Rescue Ambulance for the endangered Ganga dolphin and the Indian Skimmer Conservation Project. The Minister interacted with scientists, researchers, and students, emphasizing research, innovation, and community participation. Senior officials, Ganga Praharis, and representatives from NMCG and the Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority attended the event. The initiatives reaffirm the government’s commitment to the long-term conservation and rejuvenation of the Ganga and other rivers.
