Chandrayaan-3 | “Lander can handle a bit of rough landing too,” says former ISRO Advisor
Aug 22, 2023
Bengaluru, August 22 (ANI): Distinguished scientist and a former Senior Advisor for Satellite Navigation programme at ISRO, Dr Surendra Pal on August 22 informed that even though the lander is expected to make a soft landing, it can still cope with a bit of rough landing. “There are craters and boulders on South Pole of the moon, its surface is rough. They have mapped the whole Moon to find a suitable site for landing. ISRO has issued a statement that even if everything fails, they can still land it. There is confidence. A lot of changes and simulations have been done. The lander can handle little rough landing as well,” said Dr Surendra Pal. Notably, India’s ambitious lunar mission Chandrayaan-3 is set to land on the Moon on August 23, 2023, around 18:04 IST.
