Climate justice demand grows in Nepal after deadly floods
Oct 03, 2026
Kathmandu [Nepal] October 3 (ANI): Climate activists in Nepal continued their campaign for climate justice following the devastating August floods in Rasuwa. Dozens of activists gathered at Kathmandu Durbar Square, holding placards, forming a human chain and observing a minute of silence before a candlelight vigil. The protesters urged the international community to act on climate change and reduce carbon emissions, warning that worsening climate impacts could affect countries worldwide. Activists said the floods caused widespread destruction across Rasuwa and neighbouring areas, leaving communities severely affected. They also highlighted the long-term reconstruction challenges, with damaged infrastructure estimated to require billions of dollars and years to rebuild. The activists called for greater global action and climate justice.
