CM Pinarayi Vijayan chairs high-level meet to assess flood situation in Kerala

Idukki (Kerala), Aug 08 (ANI): Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on August 08 chaired a high-level meeting with government officials to take stock of the condition of various parts of the state which are facing flood-like situation due to incessant rainfall. The district collectors of affected regions have been directed to continuously monitor the situation. The Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KDSMA) has already issued red alert for Idukki, Malappuram and Kozhikode districts, while an orange alert has been issued for several others. Parts of Idukki district have been severely flooded, as parked were seen submerged following heavy rainfall in the region. Kerala last year braved its one of the worst floods in the state’s history in which more than 450 people had died and properties worth over Rs 40,000 crore.
